FIRST DAY!!!

Its the end of the first day and what a day it was. We got to Central Park Zoo this morning and were greetted by the very friendly Sea Lions. We then moved as a group to the CBS outdoor studio where we appeared on the CBS Early Show. It was chilly in the shade and everyone was ready to start riding but the entertainment provided by a rapping doctor with info about H1N1 (SWINE!!) was hilarious to say the least. After safety lessons we started down 5th Ave. and stormed the streets of Manhattan. We worked our way downtown and boarded the SeaStreak ferry at Pier 11 and moved into the Garden State. This is where it gets exciting. We have lunch. Yum. and then Annie and I started our 50 mile ride to Princton only to be stopped 43 miles short after my borrowed bike, sorry Jesse, took a turn for the worse. The unprecedented snapping of my rear derailer brought Annie and I to a hault as we waited for the super helpful support team to figure out my problem. No injuries to anyone but the bike is not going to make it. You can see I was very sad. Any way, we waited for an our and BackRoads lent me a great bike and we were off again. Riding through the New Jersey farm country was quite amazing. Never thought that Dirty Jers had it but I was wrong. We couldn't ride the 50 miles without seeing some awesome specticals of crazy guady houses. All in all it was an amazing day with great cool weather and we are excited to get out on the road tomorrow. Even if rain is coming/here. Again call us during the day tomorrow to get a live update. PEACE AND LOVE

Senate Climate Bill

Some convenient timing.

Embarking

Earlier this morning Emily and Sven left for New York. I am now waiting for Annie to pick me up and we will catch a ride to New Haven, a MetroNorth train into the city and from there we go to the Central Park Zoo. Registration is tonight and we will meet the other 150 people who are riding. Emily is going to have internet so I will post pictures and stories from the road. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this possible. I am so excited and can't wait to share. Give me a call if you want a live description. PEACE

6 Weeks Left

With 4 registered students the Connecticut College Climate Ride team is in full swing. We are all working hard to fundraise the necessary dollars and your help would be greatly appreciated. Visit our fundraising page here. Getting out on the bike each day while pestering everyone we know to donate is tiring but as soon as we get some photos of us training they will go up. Thanks to those who have donated and a pleasant reminder to those who haven't.
